Greenville sc!

Who knew Greenville is such a beautiful place? It's in the foothills of the apps and you can see them as you're going around town. It's so beautiful! Yesterday as I was riding, mind you in the lead pack of riders, I heard a strange clicking sound coming from my bike. Before I could really react, all of a sudden something exploded and my ears hurt so badly! I pulled over to find my tube and tire had exploded! Sweep carries an extra tire on them, but they ride at the back of the pack so I had to wait on the side of a road in a random person's driveway for an hour for them to arrive.  But I finally made it in!  72 miles! Today we did a lot of things like priming the walls of a home, putting up siding, and wiping down walls. We also met some habitat homeowners, and it as awesome to put a face to the people we are providing help for. Then for dinner an alum from CUS12's parents brought us to their house for dinner. Onwards to Georgia tomorrow!

Newberry, sc!

Our van was broken today so we rode about 50 miles unsupported. Starting to go through rolling hills which I love, but also some long, steady inclines which I hate! We convinced a public park to let us take a dip in the lake before it opened which was awesome. Then this evening a bike mechanic fixed a little issue on my bike fo free! :-)

DM magic!

The highlight of today... so much DM magic! DM = donation magic. So many riders got things donated from places like Starbucks, panera, a local health foods grocery store, and krispy kreme here in Columbia, sc. Seems like a nice little college town, but chapel hill is way better! I've been surprised by the hospitality and open arms of the south Carolinians. I wasn't sure what to expect, or if they'd be friendly, but everyone we've met so far has welcomed us with open arms. Today was a short ride day here (46 miles!) so we had a lot of time to hang out and relax today :-)

First sweep day!

I didn't get too many pictures today. I was sweep with Melanie, which are two riders who are designated to stay in the back of everyone to make sure everyone gets in safely.  A lot of people got lost today, so it was quite a long day but with beautiful weather. There is a band set at the church we're staying at, so I took the liberty to turn on the sound board and we got a little jam sesh going, one of my favorite things to do :-)

Last day in Charleston!

No time to really write, just got back from a baseball game that our host church gave us tickets to - we lost 12-2 :-(! Gotta get up at 6 for our first ride day tomorrow!! Today was our first build day - we laid concrete for a driveway and sidewalk, set up a fence to keep the alligators out (yes, alligators!), and evened out the property with some dirt. Didn't get any pictures of the build today bc I didn't have my phone on me. I love my team. So excited to be back on bike & build!!
